Dr. Tameka Clemons is a biochemist, Alzheimer's disease researcher, and faculty member at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston. She earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Meharry Medical College and was honored with an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship — a nationally competitive recognition for early-career researchers of exceptional promise.

For more than a decade, Dr. Clemons has conducted research on Alzheimer's disease while simultaneously building one of the most consistent records of student mentorship in her field. She has served on medical school admissions committees, chaired research programs, and guided undergraduate and graduate students from their first lab experience through acceptance to medical school, Ph.D. programs, and beyond. 

Her students have gone on to Morehouse School of Medicine and other top institutions — many pursuing MD/PhD pathways they credit directly to her mentorship. On a personal level, she has guided both of her daughters through the medical school journey, including her oldest daughter who earned her M.D. from Boston University School of Medicine, and her youngest daughter who is currently a medical student at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston — the same institution where Dr. Clemons serves as faculty.

She has been invited to speak at the University of Michigan, Duke University, Vanderbilt University, Texas Southern University, and Meharry Medical College, where she was named a Distinguished Research Alumna at the 70th Annual Research Symposium.
